SAPPIN - South African Parenting Programme Implementers Network

SAPPIN (South African Parenting Programme Implementers Network) builds a secure future for all South Africans by helping families create warm, non-violent homes for children. The network strengthens civil society’s voice by fostering collaboration and shared learning among organisations working with families.

SAPPIN enhances the capacity of civil society in implementation, research, fundraising, communication, and advocacy to ensure quality parenting programmes are accessible and sustainable where they are most needed. Positive parenting interventions, informed by national and international policies, reduce violence in homes, promote alternative disciplinary strategies, and foster securely attached, resilient children. These efforts create better opportunities for children and contribute to a stronger South Africa.

Objectives of the Network
SAPPIN’s overarching goal is to enable collaboration among members to make effective, sustainable parenting programmes widely available. Its key objectives are:

  1. Facilitate collaboration: Provide a platform for members to share insights, improving programme quality and reach.
  2. Build knowledge: Contribute to implementation research on parenting programmes, with outputs such as two annual “learning from practice” documents.
  3. Foster alignment: Develop a common understanding of quality standards, including “evidence-informed” and “evidence-based” practices.
  4. Support joint initiatives: Collaborate on fundraising, advocacy, and communicating implementation insights to government, civil society, and academics.
  5. Strengthen relationships: Create opportunities for members to build strong, supportive relationships.

Through these efforts, SAPPIN helps reduce violence in childhood and improves the wellbeing of families across South Africa.
