Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction
The Moments That Matter Competition, organised by Hold My Hand, a project incubated by the DG Murray Trust, is a storytelling initiative celebrating meaningful moments of connection between children and their caregivers, siblings, teachers, or community members. By sharing these moments through photos, videos/audios, graphics, and written stories, the competition aims to inspire positive interactions and highlight the importance of caregiving relationships.

2. Competition Objectives
- Promote meaningful interactions between children and their parents/caregivers.
- Encourage storytelling to amplify voices and experiences.
- Incentivise creative expression through diverse mediums.
- Foster community engagement via digital platforms and grassroots participation.
- Strengthen the Hold My Hand campaign’s mission of accelerating child-centred action in South Africa.

3. Eligibility
- Open to all South African residents.
- Entries can be submitted by children (13 years and older), parents, caregivers, siblings, educators, and community members.
- Children under 13 can participate with guardian or parent submission.
- Employees of the DG Murray Trust, their immediate family members, and contracted consultants and suppliers are not eligible.
- Submissions featuring minors must have parental or guardian consent.

4. Competition Categories
- Written: A short story (max 500 words).
- Video or Audio: A short clip (max 2 minutes).
- Photo: A single image with a caption (max 50 words).
- Graphic: A creative visual with a caption (max 50 words).

5. Submission Process
- WhatsApp: Send the keyword ‘Moments’ to 0600 411 111.
- Community Submissions: Schools, NGOs, and community centres may collect and submit entries.
- Social Media: Post using hashtags #MomentsThatMatter and #HoldMyHandSA, tagging official Hold My Hand pages. However, entries must still be submitted via WhatsApp to be valid.

Multiple submissions are allowed if each entry is unique.

6. Judging Criteria
- Authenticity: Is the moment genuine and relatable? (30%)
- Emotional Impact: Does it showcase a meaningful connection? (30%)
- Creativity: Is the moment captured uniquely? (20%)
- Engagement: Community interaction (likes, comments, shares) (20%)

7. Prizes
- Weekly Winners: Featured on social media, receiving vouchers or cash payments totaling R1,000.
- Grand Prize: Voucher pack totaling R5,000.
- Prizes exclude items associated with alcohol, tobacco, or gambling and are non-transferable.

8. Competition Timeline
- Launch: 19 March 2025
- Weekly Highlights: March - April 2025
- Final Submission Deadline: 30 April 2025

9. Content Guidelines
- Submissions must be original and unpublished.
- No AI-generated content is allowed.
- Content should not reveal sensitive personal details.
- Written content can be in any South African language (English translation encouraged).
- Content must be respectful, inclusive, and child-friendly.
- Harmful, violent, or discriminatory content is prohibited.

10. Permissions & Rights
- Participants grant permission for their content to be used in campaigns, educational materials, and promotional content.
- Participants retain intellectual property rights but grant Hold My Hand a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, modify, and publish the content.

11. Disqualification
Submissions may be disqualified if:
- They contain plagiarised or AI-generated content.
- They violate content guidelines.
- Multiple entries from the same person are submitted after already being selected as a winner.

12. Winner Selection & Prize Distribution
- Winners will be notified within one week of the announcement.
- If a winner is unreachable within three working days, an alternative winner may be selected.
- Prizes are non-transferable and non-refundable.

13. Privacy & Data Protection
- The competition adheres to South African data protection laws (POPIA).
- Personal data will be used solely for competition purposes.
- Participants can request access to, or deletion of, their personal data.

14. Publication of Winners
- By entering, participants consent to the publication of their names and likenesses on Hold My Hand platforms.
- Participants can opt out of promotional use by submitting a written request.

15. General Provisions
- The organiser may amend or cancel the competition at any time.
- The organiser’s decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding winner selection.
