At Hold My Hand, we are always looking for practical, impactful tools that support child health and development. One such resource is the PACK Child Guide, developed by the UCT Knowledge Translation Unit (KTU) in partnership with The Health Foundation of South Africa.
What is the PACK Child Guide?
Building on the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) programme, this clinical tool is designed to support healthcare workers in managing childhood conditions at the primary healthcare level. It ensures that children receive comprehensive and effective care, especially in under-resourced settings.
Launched in November 2023 in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Health, the PACK Child Guide is available as a free eBook and comes with an online training course to strengthen paediatric healthcare delivery.

While developed for the Western Cape, the PACK Child Guide draws from nationally recognised resources, including the Road to Health Booklet (RTHB), making it widely applicable across South Africa.
